go down to sam ash & pickup their ' 2 X um-50 mics for $49 (2 for the price
of one)' and hot glue them in there. they could only sound better. it's
hard to believe that a manufacturer could actually produce a mic that sounds
as bad as the thing that's in there. ... thin, no sensitivity, & tons of
treble feedback - totally useless.
now that we're past that - i did the mod - pulling the phase deflector
plastic thing out of the throat of the horn & it does sound much better or
at least musical at higher volumes instead of the treble howling that it
used to do. now i'm interested in exactly what the previous poster had
mentioned in the way of the V-shaped deflector for the mouth of the horn.
what exactly is this thing? is there a picture somewhere? can we just make
something like it out of something to test it? (using some plastic or light
wood - maybe tongue depressors?).
