The keyboard action is wonderful, agreed! I used to think my old BV
had the best action, but this new XK-3 tops it. Gliss heaven!!

There was a sheet of paper that came with it called "Addendum V1.2"
which is a list of supplementary notes to the owner's manual V1.0 (it
says so). So, I think it's safe to assume it's the list of the changes to the
firmware. If you read them carefully, you will see that there is nothing
major that changed.

I'll summarize them (translated into English ;) :

1. Split function (P.26) - The split function in this model only works
when the parameter [MIDI IN] (P.86#2) is "IN1/IN2". We knew that
already, right?

2. Key Mode (P.55) - When parameter [MIDI IN] (P.86#2) is "IN1/IN2",
any pedal part note data received at MIDI IN produces polyphonic sound
regardless of the setting of the keyboard (POLY/MONO) setting. Again,
this isn't news.

3. Expression (P.58) - A page called [Expression - Gain] has been added
to the far right of the [Expression] page in the [CONTROL] function screen.
This new parameter allows for the unevenness of some expression pedals.
Please set this paramter so that it displays the value 127 when your
expression pedal is fully depressed. The setting range for the gain is from
70% to 130% of nominal. Basically, this new parameter allows you to
set the range of the expression pedal. This one may be on some peoples
list, but IMO it's a minor change - if you want it louder, turn up the amp!

4. Noise Gate (P.75) - A new option "Threshold 1" has been added
as the default for the noise gate. This allows the audio from the effects
RETURN input to be chosen when the volume is greater than the value
of "Threshold 2" (= "Threshold" in V1.0). Depending on your effects
send/return equipment return level, you may have to set the noise gate
threshold to "Threshold 1", "Threshold 2", or "Open". This one gives
you an extra threshold to play with on the noise gate. No biggie IMO,
all my FX are pretty noise free already!

5. Corrections to the Appendix
a) Part and MIDI Messages (P.101) - Bank Select and Program
Change MIDI messages received from the Pedals are treated as
changes to the Combination Preset.
b) Global Parameters (P.105) - The setting steps of the Expression
Minimum can be set to OFF and from -60dB thru 0dB in 5dB
steps. The NRPN setting range is "00...0D".
c) System Parameters (P.108) - (i) Ext. Leslie Channel - The value for
Ext. Leslie Channel is "1" and not "2 or 3" (this is a correction, not
a change). (ii) Noise Gate - Threshold 1 option added (per 4 above).

There are also three tables on the sheet which I can't reproduce here. They
appear to pertain to the descriptions above though. All of them are no big
deal.

So, I'd say you shouldn't bother bugging HS to get your firmware update
just yet. I think they are working on adding features/fixing the few issues
diligently, and we'll all be able to do an upgrade when the time comes.
