Subject:Motion Sound R3147 modification
Has anyone done any modifications to an Motion Sound R3-147?
I have an MS R3-147. The upper rotor sounds tinny to my ear, almost
like a transistor radio speaker. I thought there was something wrong
with it so I sent a recording of it to Motion Sound. John Fisher and
Juan were very nice and took a lot of time to talk to me, but said the
recording sounded normal to them. I thought it might be the tube preamp
but I've tried using a Speakeasy and bypassing the preamp and still had
the problem.
I've thought about replacing the microphones, moving them or installing
a horn diffuser. Has anyone ever tried any of this? I've heard the
original microphones are just $6 each, but have heard from anyone who's
actually replaced them with anything better.
I like the idea of an actual rotating speaker in such a small package
but unless I can get some modification to change the sound I'll
probably keep using the Spin II with the Voce V5.
Any suggestions most appreciated. Thanks!
