One problem I always had with the VK-7 was the scaling of the
percussion - too loud at the top and too quiet at the bottom. In
practice this meant that I was continually adjusting the percussion
level because I could never get it to sound right depending on
across the full range of the keyboard.

Independently I happened to build an adaptor to put the VK-7 through
a real Leslie which allowed send and return and also access to
channel 1 and 2 on the 11 pin socket.

To cut a long story short, I tried out the adaptor with percussion
direct=on (sends percussion to channel 2 and organ to channel 1) and
equalisation of the percussion against channel 1 before getting to
the Leslie. Result was it sounded really good. No more tweaking!!

When things are right, you don't have to adjust the parameters
anymore. There aren't any tone or speed controls on a real
Leslie. It is just right out of the box.
