not happy with and then I'm obsessed "geez, I've got the ramp speed
right, but the chorale just isn't sweep-y enough for me," or "does
the fast speed seem a little TOO fast", and I just start obessessing
about it.

I think you have to keep on adjusting the XK-3 because you can't
quite get it to sound right, whereas the Electro has a more or less
realistic sound right out of the box tonewise so that things like
ramping speeds for example don't really matter.

I think it is because it is not possible to get it right rather than
having too many possibilities to adjust. Clavia have done their
homework and provided a simulation that many people find
realistic. Opinions seem to vary more about the Leslie simulation
on the XK-3, but the issue is confused because it has so many
parameters, and there are many optimists here. Although it is odd
that noone yet seems to have found the "sweet-spot" as they have for
example with David Jacques CX-3 parameters.

I have a similar dilemma with a valve (tube) amp and transistor amp
that I use for guitar players at rehearsals. Whatever I do with
the many tone controls on the transistor amp, it doesn't sound quite
right. The valve amp has no tone controls and always sounds
great. Valve amps to me seem very forgiving with respect to
nuances in the tone of the input signal. Perhaps this is the
elusive quality H-S has yet to add to their Leslie simulation.
