You assumed correctly: first and foremost of concerns with that purchase was the portability of the equipment, with sound quality secondary. (That's not the usual order of importance for me, but with airline restrictions now limiting you to 50 lbs, or charging you double up to 75lbs, and not lettting you ship anything over 75 lbs, these are the criteria I now have to deal with.) And "just" referred to sound quality not being the only criteria used to evaluate equipment (my normal modus operandi). So you did assume correctly. But you still twisted that to mean "sounds like crap, but moves easily". Not what was intended.
As for Steve, I would not presume to put words in his mouth, but I believe his rig of XK5/Speakeasy/MS combo directly relates to this very issue. It is quite portable, sounds very good, but not quite as good as his B3/4 leslies rig; but at a certain point, we all say enough is enough, and decide to quit breaking our backs. I might not be that far away.
Now all of this debate over the equality of the two items (a tough one as we both have our prejudices at this point; I am more than willing to concede that the differences in tone are offset by the differences in portability whereas you don't seem to think it's justifiable to admit there are differences in tone, or that there are no differences) has nothing to do with me liking my Pro145 purchase. I in fact do like my purchase. It could be argued that I like my purchase more than you do because I shelled out that money knowing that I would only use the Pro 145 under certain circumstances where you made the purchase to use the item full-time! :-)
I have no trouble admitting that I like a product even though I think that in terms of tone alone, it's a second to my leslie. I think the fact the Pro 145 sounds as good as it does in a package as small and lightweight as it is speaks volumes of the efforts John Fisher & Motion-Sound have expended to come up with something that more performing keyboardists will be apt to use. It's the next best thing to a real leslie that I have found, and I have used ALL of em, including the G4, Rotosphere, Dynacord Cls stuff and Spin II.
