I had a P80 and played it hard for over two years, no problem except
recently it started to forget the MIDI settings - because I was also
using it as a controller for my Voce V5 - the 12-half-step
transposition and 'dont send patch changes' settings.

Never a problem with the keys. And I play hard!

Yamaha has a very active online support group. I'd try

they'll get back and tell you you're in the queue, then you'll be
contacted by a qualified service tech. Find out if there was a QC
problem with the P80, and whether there's a free 'recall' style
service bulletin out.

BTW I recently sold the P80 to a young family with kids, and bought a
P90.. better acoustic pianos by far and they fixed the Rhodes-from-
hell volume jump. And the 'alternate' sound on EP2 is a great
Wurlizter EP sound. EP1 is still in DX7 land. the MIDI controller -
implementation is still very poor. And did you notice that when you
change a patch on the Px0, that the V5's 'distortion' is switched
on? Can't suppress ALL CC because I want CC64, pedal, to be xmitted
to the V5.
