I have to admit, I'm thinking of switching back to in-ears for everything...if I could just get over my leslie fetish!
For the budget minded, you can just buy the ear buds and a cheapo $50 Behringer mixer which has mic inputs as well as line inputs. You can take a monitor send from the PA through the mic inputs and still have 2 inputs left for keyboard sends from whatever you're using now for a mix, and then get a stereo mix. If you need more than two channels for keyboards, either get a slightly larger mixer, or get a sub mixer for your

For just monitoring yourself onstage, they might do
the trick. Try the non- sealed type earpieces with
them. You get some leakage but you can also get more
of live feel of the rest of the band and don't feel
isolated. Our drummer got one with a low end "shaker"
that fit on his drum throne.
