Subject:Leslie problems

I'm having a problem with my Leslie 860. The foam bass drum is
hanging down low enough to sometimes scrape the bottom of the
cabinet. The drum doesn't stay attached to the neoprene collar at the
top. I was advised to put an additional washer under the bearing on
which the drum sits, but I'm having a really hard time accomplishing
this. In general, after having taken it apart, the drum rotates more
sluggishly. Is there anything I can do short of a complete overhaul
of the assembly? I live in fear that the whole bass rotor will fail
during a gig.
