I did the same comparison a few years ago and bought a pair of Mackies. The
G2 had just come out.

The mixer/eq options on the G2 are a nice feature and I was told the Mackies
would have them as an "add-on" as they released modular plug-ins. Never
happened.

Love my Mackies, hate the 50lbs each. I'm very curious about the 10" models
that are taking forever to come out.
