I was lucky enough to have a real leslie that I could A/B with the VK-8. Mostly I found all I needed to adjust (to my taste) were the ramp up and down parameters of both the top and bottom 'rotors'. I feel that most Leslie sims are too fast in all respects.

Aside from that, have the manual in front of you and go for it until you hear what you like.
