Subject:Re: VK-8M unpacked 1st impression

Every leslie I've ever owned or heard shares at least one characteristic: the lower rotor takes a lot longer to slow down than the upper rotor. The upper rotor almost slows immediately, as if braked, while the lower rotor takes time to slow down, which gives the leslie its characteristic sound.

The upper rotor takes longer to accelerate (2-3 seconds) than it does to deccelerate
(almost immediately) while the lower rotor takes about 3-5 seconds to get to top speed
and even longer to slow down. These times are 122type leslies which switch just a little less responsively than 147s because of their switching systems. The beautiful thing about these clones is you can tweak leslies for individual programs thereby giving you access to every leslie sound you like!
