Subject:Hammond, VK7 ballad comparisons

I own a Hmmond C3 w/ 122 and 22 Leslies. I also own a VK7. I like
the sound of the VK7 with which I use only "straight" speakers with
and feel that the chorus and Leslie Simms while not a duplicate of
the Hammond setup have a good sound on their own. Basicaly both
setups are part of an "overkill" home setup, although I bought the
VK7 "in case" I would go out.

That being said, I find that while I like the traditional first
three plus perc on the VK 7 and enjoy how it can scream with the
real thing, I can get frustrated and bored sooner with playing an
all flutes,ballad,theatre, or gospel flutey settings with the VK7.

My question is: is this due to the nature of the clones and what
clones do the Non perc added, non Quint scene better? I am sure part
of the answer indeed is due to not going through an actual Leslie.
BTW I am aware and have cut the treble EQ's to cope with the
tendency for most Clones to be built without proper tapering down of
the highs.

Most peoples ratings of one clone relative to another are based on
that "traditional" sound of the first three plus perc and yet with
that being an easy thing to emulate- even from a "non dedicated"
organ keyboard unit- hardly give much of a comparison. Fortunately
the popularity and useability of that sound gives groups everywhere
easy access to adding "an organ sound".
