Subject:Help For 1st-Time MIDIer?
Hello all,
I'm a CX-3 player; also a Hammond M-102/Leslie 760 for what is now 18
years... own/love a Minimoog almost as long a time. Thing is, I've NEVER used
MIDI. I have a Casio CT-670 portable (yeah, I know, the highest of tech) which I
enjoy a lot. Now! The Casio has MIDI... can anyone tell me a really basic,
SIMPLE way of "getting into" MIDI, between the CX-3 and Casio, just to sort of
get my ol' analog-ish feet wet?? It might as well be 1985 for all my technical
wizardry. I do keep up with wanna-B clones; when the XB-2 came out I got one
(a floor model; $75 knocked off 'cause of a ding on the top - just couldn't
wait for Sam Ash to get a new one in) in '99 I upgraded, as it were, to the XK-2;
since 11/02 I've been SO satisfied with this Korg CX-3. I love and am
influenced by a lot of the standard jazz/blues giants, J. Smith, J. McGriff, J.
McDuff, R."G." Holmes... a lot of the prog gods too, Van Leer, Wakeman, Emerson
etc. But again... I've never "experienced" MIDI, and would like to at least get
an idea what it's like. Won't you please help this victim of technological
self-denial? All I really need is to hear myself playing the organ, with, say, a
string patch from the Casio enhancing it. No, I DON'T know what I'm talking
about! MUCH thanks in advance and best wishes - Adam
