Subject:New Keyboard, Stand Issues
I just got an SL880Pro controller to go along with my Electro and
NL2. I was hoping that I'd be able to stack the Electro on top of
the SL880 on the lower tier of my X stand with a couple minor
issues, and keep the NL2 on the top tier, but it won't work- you
have to have the Electro pulled too far forward on the SL880 and it
covers the controls up. I also broke out my old Invisible stand, as
I used to stack a VK7 on top of a Yamaha P50, then had a little PVC
extension I made for a Juno 106. This worked because the VK had a
decent size wood top that the 106 could partially sit on. The
Electro's knobs get in the way if I try this so that option is out.
Aside from buying a 3 tier stand, which I really don't want, does
anyone have any suggestions on how to rig up an extension for a 2
tier X stand? I was thinking of my old friend PVC again. I could run
a piece into the back of the top tier tube, use a corner kind of
elbow, a short upright, another corner elbow, a short piece as a
resting place for the keyboard, a T on the end to hold the keyboard
in place with a short "leg" that rests on top of the electro. Sort
of like this, if my ascii art works right:
side view:
_NL2____| pvc rig inserts into back of top tier and rests on electro

|__|ELECTRO| - on top tier of X stand
|
|___|_SL880PRO|_ on bottom tier

I'd make 2 of these contraptions and then connect them with longer
pieces to create the shelf for the NL2 to sit. Probably cost me 10
bucks for the materials.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Dan
