Subject:Re: stewart PA100B review
Hey Ben,
That looks like it'll be a nice setup! But why not go whole hog and buy another Yamaha cabinet so you can run in stereo? I just bought 2 Behringer KX1200s so I could do the stereo thang, but last week at rehearsal I ran my practice keyboard thru a Mackie board / Yamaha amp / pair of Yamaha 12" monitors, and it sounded -really- good.

I managed to pick up a stewart PA100B on ebay. Good value (used)
and great formfactor (1/2 rack 5.5lbs 180W bridged).
I purchased it to power my skb leslie (bassist sold the carvin head I
was borrowing) which is does painfully well even w/a passive x-over.
However, I had to try it as a replacement for my Barbetta 31C for
stage use as I've been noticing that the house mix of my keys sounds
better then my barbetta at shows. I picked up a yamaha SE12 PA cab
(which has a phenolic horn!) and that combination sounds much better
then the Barbetta. High end is much clearer and there is noticably
less hiss. In fact I'm going to have to change some of my synth
presets now as they are too bright.
I velcro strapped a small behringer mixer on top of the stewart amp
(it fits perfectly), dressed cables, and now I'm good to go. I
think it would also do well mounted to a speakeasy classic.
While not as simple to setup as a powered speaker, it is a modular
approach and fairly cheap:
Stewart PA100B $125
Yamaha SE12 $180
Behringer Mixer $60
= $365
