Just a thought - I don't know if you'd want to go thru this again, but....

Uninstall the card, all of the drivers, every piece of Creative software on your system. Make sure it's completely void of anything soundcard-related. Maybe even do a system cleanup / defrag, what the heck.

Reboot.

Physically re-install the card, but cancel the "new hardware" wizard.

Install the kx driver and mixer.

Reboot.

I seem to recall that's what I had to do. Works great!
