You want Amp 1 or Amp 2 mode if you're not using a real Leslie.
Preamp mode is a direct out, with no amp simulation. It also turns
off the Leslie effect.

I quite happily use the CX-3 with a Speakeasy Classic (volume at
3:00 o'clock, both tone controls at 12 o'clock, gain switch on low),
with a JBL Eon G2 15. I suppose I could tweak it to death, but I
really like using the presets posted by David Jacques to emulate his
various B-3s. (They're a little heavy on the reverb for my taste,
but otherwise are quite nice.)
