Subject:Help with KX Project Drivers for SBLive! 5.1

Today I received a new OEM SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 card which I got
from a dealer on e-Bay. The card is new, never been opened. I
installed on my AMD machine under WinXP. Downloaded the
SoundBlaster apps package and SoundBlaster driver update from
soundblaster.com (LiveDrive Uni-Pack and LiveDrive Driver Patch, in
that order).

Card and drivers pass all SoundBlaster Live! diagnostics with the
diagnostic utility bundled with LiveDrive. Sound works great from
all paths: digital via MP3 playback, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, all effects
work supplied with SB software , even the B4 sounds great through
this. Now...onto the latency issue.

I installed the KX Project package including the drivers, and lo and
behold, after install and reboot...NO SOUND.

I tried the troubleshooting tip that they had about the front and
rear speakers being reversed, and tried both reversing the speaker
connection from the front to rear jack on the SB Live outputs, as
well as toggling it in software, also as the troubleshooting tips
suggested. Still no sound. KX Project release notes indicate that
this is compatible with all products from Creative Labs that use the
EMU10k1 sound engine which this card definitely is based on.

I gave up and uninstalled the KX Project, uninstalled the soundcard
and rebooted allowing Win XP to discover the card and auto install.
Following the auto install I manually installed the LiveDrive Drive
Uni-Pack and the LiveDrive driver patch and restored the
functionality of my new SB Live! 5.1 card.

Any ideas?

Kevin
