Subject:RE: Smaller keyboard stand solution

I just picked up a Standtastic stand from musicians friend. It is very
adjustable, and seems to be sturdy. One of the best features is that you
can bring out the lower level some towards you, so that your lower keyboard
is a little bit in front of the top keyboard more like a Hammond. My only
concern with it is that there seems to be a million little parts to it, so I
wonder about how it will last in the long term, but it does seem to be
fairly solid, so that might be an unfounded concern. I purchased the 48
inch for two keyboards.
I put a kurz 2x on the bottom with a motif on top both with v5s velcroed on
and it seems very solid, so it should easily hold an electro.

Subject: [CWSG] Smaller keyboard stand solution

I've been looking for a good dual stand for the Electro 73 and
another similar dimension A-33 controller keyboard. I haven't been
able to find one that looks and feels right with their depth and
height. All the dual stands are too big on the bottom rack, except
for the lighter T-stands with V-arm racks which IMO may be too easy
to knock over. Someone suggested an Invisible stand, but they're
vintage and none to be found. One of the keyboard salesmen at GC
said he'd seen players using two single-X stands parallel and pushed
together at different 'snap' hole heights. He showed me the general
idea with two Extreme 100 Squeeze-trigger stands. They were on sale
for $9.99 down from $19.99. I had one of these at home so I bought
another - what the heck.
I tried this out with the longer bottom supports toward me, one stand
at the lowest 5th 'snap' hole, the other two holes higher, and the
X's a few inches apart. I put the Electro on the bottom and an A-33
76-note controller on top. This was a very good sit-down playing
height; looked and felt good - and an A-33 definitely plays the
Electro's awful key action pianos better than it can.
There's two minor problems: 1. The upper rack's arms stick out a
little under its keyboard; minor problem for me as it didn't seem
like it'd interfere with my playing at all. 2. The X's of the two
stands have to be kept apart a few inches - but also very solidly
together. They're not stable enough for live playing, as the lower
keyboard keeps lightly knocking on the other stand, etc. I tried
putting 2 pieces of dense, almost hard, packing foam the right size
in between and going around these with velcro straps. Not bad, but
something more solid while not taking excess time to set up is
needed. Any suggestions?
