Subject:Re: Question on M3 drawbar voicings
Steve,
I did look at JD's B4CE unit but it has quite a bit more than I need
since I will just be using my two MIDI keyboards to generate note
events.
In addition, he is wiring resistors across the drawbars as a sort of
discrete-position pot whereas I'm using mine as regular switches
which eliminates an A/D conversion to read the drawbar positions.
I'm planning my design on the Basic Stamp BS2pe or sx. I'll only be
generating realtime midi control messages, initially from the great,
swell, and pedal drawbars, and the rocker switches (percussion,
overdrive, vib-lower, vib-upper, rotator on/off, rotator speed, and
velocity).
Based on JD's documentation though, I just realized that I can select
preset banks and presets within those banks via MIDI. With my
current memory allocation in the Basic Stamp, I still have 4 16-bit
words in the Stamp's memory to add capabilities for calling up preset
banks and presets in the event I want quick recall of these settings
without having to play around with them from one tune to the next.
This gives me the capability of always assigning "Preset 0" in each
bank to the "live" settings on the controller.
JD is a great resource, don't get me wrong and he has some really
cool stuff - thanks for pointing me in that direction. I've spent
half my corporate life as an EE and the other half as a CS and am
currently a Enterprise Systems Architect and am looking for something
fun to play around with. This project brings me back to my roots in
a fun sort of way :) I just recently learned about the Basic Stamp,
and I could do a lot with that architecture.
Best regards,
Kevin
