Subject:Re: VK7 OS

I'm not even sure how to tell what OS you have other than to open the thing
up and look at the chip. I got a VK7 and loved the way it sounded. Then it
began to screw up and they sent replacements of all the main boards
(including the newest OS). The new boards made the organ work perfectly,
but I immediately realized that the Leslie sim now sounded (to my ears)
pretty awful. I thought they must have done something wrong when they
replaced the boards, but I found out that this Leslie sound was supposed to
be an 'improvement' over the original. I was able to keep all the new
boards and just install the older OS, and now it works perfectly and sounds
the way I like it to sound. The OS is on a chip, and I don't think it can
be downloaded as software. I think ( but am not sure) that I am using 1.5
and that the 'improved' version was 1.7. The only bug I've found in the
older OS is that the VK7 will always turn the reverb time value to '64' no
matter what you have saved it as, so if you want it to be a different value,
you have to reset it every time you turn it on - pretty easy to live with
(for me at least).
