Hi Barry,
I don't have my Electro anymore (got VR760 now) but I didn't have any of the problems you're getting but... Coz I use at least two keyboard live and want to control my own on stage sound (back line) I use a small behringer mixer. The trim pots on the small mixer can sort out the balance between the keyboards, so my set up works like this:

main outs to bands main desk and PA
Keyboards - small mixer <
monitor outs to 32 band stereo graphic to monitor amp and speakers

These small mixers are so cheap these days and so useful.

I suppose that would work when using my board and I was the sound guy.

But educating every club soundperson would be an exercise in futility.

Another problem with low output:

Something like a Kurzweil directly plugged into, say, a Mackie SRM-450, with no intervening preamp or mixer: result--total output a tad low but certainly usable in many small gigs.

Plug ELectro into a Mackie SRM-450 without anything else---way too low output for satisfactory playing.
