To all who responded to this thread: thanks for all the detailed
responses.

I think my decision is made to go with the B4 although after the
bucks I spent on my homebuilt Leslie I'm going to have to wait a bit.

After consideration of some of the midi controllers presented, I
think I'm going to go my own route, purchase a set of hammond
drawbars secondhand from e-bay and built myself a drawbar controller.

I could go with any of the PIC based scanners out there, but am
disappointed that they only do 8x8 scanning and there are two sets
of drawbars on the M3 parts I'm seeing one set of 8, a single pedal
drawbar and one set of 9 in the same unit. This leads me to think
that I will build my own either hardware or software based and with
a midi-merger merge the keyboard stream with the drawbars to get
both great and swell control of the B4 software.

Sounds like another planned "vintage" project is in the works :)
