Subject:OT-spinoff MIDI keypad
Hi!
There has been a discussion on MIDI setups and controllers and stuff.
So I want to tell you about an idea I got.
I have bought an Electro 73 and will have it on top of my Ensoniq TS-10 that will do strings, brass and such.
The electro fits directly on top of the TS10 without the need of a double tier stand.
I like it that way because the two manuals gets really close and I can use any stand I want.
I will post a picture of it soon.
But, how will I select the programs on the TS-10 without access to the top panel that now is covered by a red beauty???
I did a web search and found this product:
http://www.ees-musik.de/frames/gb/control.htm#ProConX
Big, expensive and limited... But an interesting approach!
I also stumbled upon some Palm Pilot MIDI stuff. I then remembered my old Palm laying around somewhere from my last job.
I built a MIDI interface ( http://my.execpc.com/~tz/midihw.txt )and searched for a program that could do what I wanted...
The closest I could get was MiniMidi from http://www.ninelocks.com/ but it wasn't enough.
I contacted the author/programmer and told him about my idea and he liked it!
So he will implement a keypad in the next version of the program!
We have also talked about MIDI setup presets where you can select a named preset and different bank/program changes are sent to up to 16 channels. You should also be able to send a volume value to each channel so you can do a custom MIDI mix for each preset!!
I'll upload some prototype graphics to the file section so you'll get the idea
So I will velcro my palm to my organ (Ouch!!) and control my complete MIDI rig from there.
You will still need the ordinary MIDI mergers/thru boxes though.
So, what do you say about that idea?
/Magnus
