I was lucky enough to see Winwood in Austin, and he definitely covered the
bass parts (very simple) on pedals. There was no bass player on stage. He
also played a bit of guitar, and especially on Dear Mr. Fantasy really cut
loose. In fact, I wish he had cut loose on the Hammond to the degree that
he did on the guitar - his playing was of course very tasteful but his new
music has a lot of space which he seemed hesitant to fill. A very good show
in general, however.

Austin City Limits is on PBS. If your satellite service carries PBS just
find out which channel it puts it on.

I've been listening to his "About Time" (??) CD lately, where it sounds
like he's playing pedals almost exclusively. The bass parts are very simple
and predictable, but I just love to see a guy playing pedals. It's
interesting how Winwood has definitely developed his own style and sound
over the years. But if you want to hear some more adventurous playing and
Hammond stylings, you've got to go way back to a Spencer Davis Group box
set.

October 11th. Check with your local PBS affiliate for exact dates
and times.

May I ask for someone to tape this show for me? My local PBS
station here in Pittsburgh has dropped Austin City Limits from its
broadcasting schedule. STUPID!!!
