Subject:RE: V5 with what controller????

I use two V5s. I own a Yamaha So3 and a Kurzweil SP76 to trigger them. I
personally like the very light action of the keyboards, especially the SO3,
as there is absolutely no resistance to the keys, so you never get that
dreaded feeling of swiping your hand over a synth keyboard.
One thing also to take into consideration is that many keyboards like these,
they are not wide enough to mount the V5 on. I went to Home Depot and
bought some very small shelf brackets that Velcro to the back of the
keyboard and then to the bottom of the V5. Another consideration is that
you can also purchase what is called "Extreme Velcro" that is much stronger
than average Velcro. I have found no problem though in velcroing then to
the Motif and PC2X keyboards that I also use, so it just depends on the
keyboard.
I do think that the V5 is the "ballsiest" of the units, but even more
important is what you are running it through, since there is no internal
Leslie. I think that as long as you take an extra wall wart along, to gigs,
there isn't that much to worry about. It won't exactly make the setup look
all that much cleaner, as you still have two other chords hanging out the
back. The S03 and Sp76 also use wall warts, so I just put them all into a
power strip on my homemade pedal board.

Subject: Re: [CWSG] V5 with what controller????

Dear list,

Remember the wall wart: I just want to add to T's very informative
comparison of the V5 and Electro that the V5 uses a wall wart and is
therefore more
frail. That's why I keep it in a rack when I play in the Land of the
Flailing
Drunks (which is next door to the House of the Rising Sun).

I don't have an Electro. And keeping the V5 in a rack means I cannot reach
the drawbars (when I play in the Land of the Microscopic Stage , which is
next
door to the Land of the Keyboard Player in the Padded Cell).

DEAR ENGINEERS, if it is true that the V5 has a more ballsy tone than the
Electro, then I need to figure out a sturdy way to keep the V5 drawbars on
top of
the keyboard, some manner that keeps the V5 plus its wall wart in a
keyboard-attachable tray or case, with an AC cord running out of it. I
welcome ideas.

Before I start this probably ill-fated mod, dear list, please me know if
there are any dissenting opinions about the V5 being the most ballsy.
Thanks!
