Subject:RE: V5 with what controller????

I was wondering what you guys are using to control the V5? I'm currently
thinking about using my Peavey DPM C8 so I can cut my rig down...It also
controls everything in my rack. Are any of you using a weighted 88-Note
controller to drive yours? There are several players out there notably David
Sancious(Voce drawbar controller w/B4, the new guy from Styx I believe a
Roland RD series to a rack, etc. I'm assuming I'll have to get used to
playing a bit more aggressively due to the weight. I figure if they can do
it and get away with less stuff onstage, what the hell I might as well try
it...

P.S. I can see why I've read several comments about the V5 having balls to
spare...It kicks major "arse"!!!

For pure ballsy tone, nothing beats the V5. However, there's more to good
Hammond sounds than just ballsy tone.

These are both great pieces, and I've owned them both (as well as old and
new CX3s, VK7s, Hammond XM1 w drawbars, and the VCombo). But the electro,
even if you think of it as JUST a Hammond clone (as I did for more than a
year), is a more complete clone.

But your ears must make the choice.

Another two cents: I get too much hiss when I add the Rotosphere and
Speakeasy together (I can't get rid of the extra hiss, but the problem
could be my
bad knob-twisting technique.)

QUESTION: Since we are doing comparisons of every pair of units, is there
anyone who can speak to the comparison of the basic drawbar sound of the V5
versus the Nord Electro 2? I would really kick myself if I bought the Nord
Electro and then ended up putting it in the closet with my CX3 after
realizing that
the V5 is the best I can do. (Damn, the V5 is a pain to set up and tear
down
night after night, not to mention delicate!)
