When I wrote that this morning I was going to say Winwood recorded with the RMI, but wanting to be accurate, I wanted to know on which song. So I got out my Barleycorn, lp (yes, I still have a collection of 500 lps) put on Side 1 - "Glad" acoustic piano. Next song, "Freedom Rider" acoustic piano. I think, "Hmmm...maybe it was on Low Spark", so I get out the Low Spark lp and give it a spin. "Low Spark" acoustic...I flip it over..."Rock n Roll Stew" Wurly. "Ok, so I'll play it safe and just say I don't recall." But I knew it was there somewhere! Hahaha! I've got "Empty Pages" on as I type this.

You're right about the Blind Faith album too. I have the lp that was banned in the US because of the nude pubescent girl on the front cover. I believe the back cover photo was then used for the front and the lp reissued in the US. In the group photo (either back cover or front, depending on which copy you have) you can see Winwood standing in front of an RMI Electra Piano.But I can't pick it out on any of the tracks unless possibly the final track, "Do What You Like". But my ears aren't that keen.

BTW: This shouldn't be considered "Off Topic" because in 1969 the RMI WAS a Hammond Clone! After all it did have an organ mode!

When I was much younger I had a RMI Electra Piano. Remember those? Sounded like crap but Rick Wakeman and Steve Winwood both had one and that was good enough for me. I don't recall ever hearing Winwood play the RMI on any recordings, but he had it with him when I saw "Traffic" in Pittsburgh. Point is, if the band is tight and the vocals are good, you could probably play a cigar box covered with rubber bands and still get the crowd going.
