Subject:Re: KBR3-D Motion Sound or Pro 145

Bob - Two things. First, I have the kbr3d on an amp stand, which is
about three feet from my head, pointing right at it. (I sit sidways.)
Honestly, it sounds amazing to me this way. the highs roll off real
quick when you are off axis of the tweets. I don't really like any of
the electric pianos on the p-80 though, and have thought that some
tube distortion would help. I just tried out a p-90, which seem to
have much better rhodes. Not such obvious veleocity switching, more of
that warm fuzzy distortion when you lean on it.

Oh, maybe by anemic you mean the lack of bottom because of the 10"
woofers. I guess that really doesn't bother me, since my left hand is
retarded anyway and I like to stay out of the way of the bass player.
Volume wise, I always run the 3d through the p.a., and the amp is
right next to my head where I can hear it good. This also keeps my
stage volume down, which minimizes guitar players turning up. :)

I did replace the woofers with eminence deltalites, with neodynum
[sp?] magnets. Great specs, and they shave more than 5 pounds off the
total weight. They are too big for the stock insets though, grind
grind. Anyway, these are much brighter than the stock eminence beta's,
and maybe the bottom end is better. But, I don't really recommend it.

But really, try putting the 3d next to your head.
