Hook up a sequencer (I used Alesis' Freeloader to update the OS in the VK8)
on your PC to the MIDI In on the VK8. Load the files into the sequencer in
the order you need to send them, and then set the VK8 to receive mode (I
think you turn it off and then hold down the Rotary On and the Slow/Fast
button as you turn it back on, but confirm that in the manual. It _could_ be
the Pedal/Upper buttons). Then hit Play on the sequencer and the VK8's
rotary light should blink as it takes in the files.

With the Roland upgrade all the lights flashed on when it was done.
