We're talking about two different "upgrades" here.

Roland has an upgrade that gives you a better Leslie sim and the Type IV
amp.

There is a German company (Soundside) that has a different upgrade (for
around $40). http://www.soundside.de/shop/vk8upgradepack.htm

The web site says that the upgrade is for the VK8 and VK8M. It goes on to
say that they have not tested it on the V-Combo, but if you have a V-Combo
and want to test it send them an email.

I don't know any more than what it says on the web site.
