Okay, let me try to be a bit more clear - I haven't even listened to "Mr Magic" in 15 years, so I doubt very much that I could just sit down and play the melody right off the top of my head. Of COURSE I could improvise a solo (yeesh) - like it's hard to improvise over Em7 - A7?

What's even more fun is playing in church on Sunday morning... it's 9:30, you're playing a song you've kinda gone over once before (earlier that same morning) and the band director gives you "the nod". Okay, here we go...........!

At the risk of sounding arrogant. Get used to it,
especially if you view yourself as a "pro." The keyboard player has the toughest gig in a band (usually) it is also a powerful position to be in sometimes. Survival of the fittest.
