Subject:Off the wall !
Given how all of the users of B4 probably have both a qwerty keyboard, and a 49, 61, 73 (perhaps even 88) note keyboard connected to a PC simultaneously, it just set me to wondering...........
If you could assign a text (or control) character to each note on your piano/midi/clonewheel keyboard how long do you reckon it would take to teach your self to "touch type" given that you can already play the organ/piano.
Thinking about this really gives my head a spin !
If you can play really really fast demi-semi quavers at high speed would that mean that you could only type gibberish at the same high speed or would it be just a matter of practise (like a concert pianist etc.) to get it 'note perfect' = spelled correctly ?
And can we type faster groups of more widely separated notes/characters on a qwerty because they are all more easily within reach ? Could/should we design a qwerty style board with a nice weighted action to play music on ?
Do we have any software guru's out there that could hack a bit of code to turn MIDI note controls into standard 101 keyboard type serial data ? Then we could all have a go at trying this..............
There's lots of room for speculation on this....... What are your thoughts...... ?
(Or let me know if you think its too far off topic....its just that B4ers are easily the most likely to have a qwerty right next to their cream and whites {this is meant to be an authentic clone after all}
Regards,
Claire
