Hear Hear Doug,
Well said.
I give you full support for your comments below.
I have two real Hammonds and two real Leslie's but I prefer to use B4.
I even run it on a full desk top machine which I lug around and people think
it is funny, but the desktop PC (while obviously a lot more cumbersome than
a laptop) is nothing compared with a full Hammond or Clone/Leslie rig and
its right on for sound quality. And I can tweak it to death, and I can run
whole heaps of software synths (for nothing) and run whole heaps of really
powerful MIDI stuff, lots of really nifty sequencing drums/loops and other
junk, lots of fancy and powerful signal processing stuff, play CDs and whole
heaps of other sound files, and I can run whole heaps of sound fonts (for
nothing) and I can even send emails on my dammed Hammond clone !
(I've actually cracked a way to record our bands rehersals in full stereo
high quality for a CD while I'm using the same PC as my Clonewheel.)
By the way I have never had B4 or the PC or Win 2K Pro let me down.
And in case it does, it is of course entirely practical just to have a spare
old junk style PC pre-loaded with B4 set up and ready to go and just leave
it in the trunk or van. (Not really practical with a hardware clone........)
Regards,
Claire
