Subject:Re: DIY Leslie
Yamaha made a series of Leslie-type combo amplifiers in the late
'60's/'70's. The RA50 and RA70 each had one of those white rotating horns.
The RA100 had 2 rotating horns and 2 12" bass speakers, the RA200 had 200
watts rms, 3 rotating horns, and 4 12" speakers. I have an RA70 that I got
new many years ago. It has the horn and 1 15" bass speaker. It has a 70
watt amp and spring reverb. It does make a very nice Leslie-like sound. It
has a fast/slow footswitch, but the speed is completely variable from the
back panel. I remember that I had to travel to Montreal to get it. At the
time I heard that they could not be sold in the USA because of the Leslie
patents.
