Subject:Re: Brilliant Idea or Insane Ramblings - B4 custom controller
Hello,
the idea isn't bad at all. Having infos about the key position would be
significant improvement for the whole MIDI world.
Especially organs could benefit from that, since the Hammond has that
feature, that you form the attack under your finger tip.
But the order of the inrushing harmonics isn't that critical at all,
since we talk about a attack time of 5 -10 milliseconds. If you select
a registration like 88 800 0000, it makes no difference. But you have
signifannt changes of the key click vs. velocity. Dependent on the kes
contact, you have nearly no click, if you depress a key very soft. Then
you hear a pure attack. A bit more velocity, then you get a good
scratch and even more velocity shortens the key click, but makes it a
bit more agressive.
This fact is captured by the emagic evB3 and is adjustable to fit it to
the users taste.
