Subject:RE: Roland JV80-08 Card

I agree that there are certain weaknesses in the cards. They are
probably as numerous as there are opinions about the card.
I wouldn't give up my B3's or B4 for it. Nor would I get rid of my
VK7, especially since I've managed to find a cabinet that makes it
sound good.
I once tried the Micro B and really didn't care much for it. I'm
sure at the time for what it was some folks thought it was the best
thing to get. Slip it in your pocket and off you go.
For me the nice thing about the 80-08 is that in addition to the
other stuff in my 1010, I've got a backup supply of pretty nice organ
sounds in the event I have to go micro or lose the B4 AND BX3 at the
same time. Besides that, I think it's cool to have all of those
sounds on a little gizmo the size of a credit card. I can also take
it to practice and not have to bring a rig the size of Miami to make
noise.
To me it's one of those "neat little things" that can make life
simpler in a pinch and it doesn't really offend any listeners or band
members. Replacement of my good clones or Hammonds? Never.
I guess I really like cheap toys and this sort of feeds my
monthly/weekly/daily jones for a music gear fix.
Let's see. . . .this one ought to last me a couple of weeks at best
or until some new tinker toy comes along.
What, me defensive?
Chuck
PS For you ex-Texans, it's spring here with temps in the high 70's.

We're enjoying it before the 100's hit in another month or so.
Always good motorcycle riding in Dallas.
