AH!!!!!! I think you've hit on something. My
transmitter has 1/4" high impedance inputs. The first
night, I supplied the engineer with 1/4" cables. It
worked great. The second night, I'm not sure what he
used. And the third night, the engineer patched me in
through his snake, and I provided him with an XLR to
1/4" cable (red to tip, green to sleeve). Could this
be the culprit? Again, it's a wireless system, so all
connections are made at the transmitter.

How do I do this? We don't carry a system, much less
a monitor system, and I NEED to have everyone's vocals
in my monitor. This NECESSITATES a send from the
engineer. And what about my leslie? I now have to
split the signal from my leslie mics? I can't mix
that from the stage...I HAVE to trust the FOH engineer
to decide what the appropriate level is for that
compared to everything else on stage.

Firstly, it's his job! These are for the most part,
very qualified individuals working these rooms.
Secondly, he's there getting everyone else's monitor
mix, there should be no hassle getting him to do one
more, and all individuals involved so far have been
more than happy to accommodate.

I understand what you're saying here, and that's what
a monitor desk is supposed to: be set up for any
number of personal mixes across the stage. We don't
carry a system, and we're not about to. The whole
point of the wireless system is to enable the house
engineer to send me something whether he has an
available snake channel or not. So I'm back to square
one. If the mix is sounding good, that's not the
problem. It's the overall volume. How do I insert a
pre into the equation into the wireless system? It
has to be before the transmitter, which doesn't make
sense anyway...they're already sending a mucho hot
signal. I think you've hit on it with the level
matching. The culprit must be that damn cable. But
that 2nd show...I could have sworn he used the 1/4"
cables...
