Subject:RE: In Ear Monitors

Tony, I've been advocating IEM for my latest band, since we don't actually
have much gear (yet). I agree that IEM is the future and it's much lighter
and more portable. (Wait a second, are we actually AGREEING on something?
)

A few questions about your purchase, and then some questions of my own. I
see this as a logical extension to the "what amplifier for my clone"
question that gets vollied here all the time, but if we have to take this
off list, we'll just cc everyone jumping in.

What model Sennheiser did you buy? Do you have a URL for their info? The
only product I could find was very similar pricewise to the PSM200, which is
Shure's entry level system.

Does the higher end Shure IEMs require custom fit, or do they use the same
disposable sleeve options as the lower priced ones?

Your approach (wireless vs. snake) seems more tranparent for most
situations, but you are relying on the ability/kindness of the sound person.

My idea for our group is to build the monitor system first and use it
everywhere - practice, small clubs, large clubs, huge halls (it *could*
happen, right?). We use and relate to the monitor and give direct outs
and/or submixes from that system. Everyone gets to dial their own submix and
then we go out to FOH.

Anyone doing this now?
