Subject:Info Leak- New Speakeasy Product

In my talks with Steve Hayes the last few days, we were discussing
his preamps and pricing, etc. I told him that I think the Speakeasy
amps are a wish list item for a lot of players, but that outside of
the basic foot pedal unit, they are priced out of the range of a
huge market of musicians. Even the base model is quite a bit to
spend when you look at what else is out there.

Steve said he thought about this, and while the basic footpedal is
priced in the same range as comparable units like the Trek, he
understood where I was coming from with regard to the higher end
products. Personally, I would not have been able to afford the amp I
got if not for some inheritance money from my Dad, and I'm sure a
lot of other players would like one of these amps and just can't
afford one.

Yesterday when Steve called me, he said our talks inspired him to
come out with a new product. This will be a stripped down version of
the Speakeasy preamp. It will have a 1/4 inch in and out, no tone
controls, and no options for rotating speaker attachments. Just a
basic preamp, much like the lower cost models that some of us have
used or still use. The innards will be the normal Speakeasy pre,
with the options to get the classic or howler versions installed. He
said it would go for about 250- which puts the amp right in the
range that a lot of players could afford- now instead of settling
for a lesser amp, you can get a Speakeasy for about the same price.
It should be on the market very soon, so if you are thinking about a
tube amp, here's another option.
