Subject:Re: Leslies with 12" Woofers

This is a big problem. In looking for a speaker, the VAS parameter is another
crucial indicator of whether a given speaker will work in a given cabinet.
This number can be found usually in the specs of the raw speaker. If you want a
small cabinet to provide a lot of bass, you must find a speaker in your
desired diameter that has a VAS good for the cubic footage of the cabinet (where the
bass woofer will reside, internal measurements, not the entire size of the
Leslie). A Thiel/Small calculation could be helpful. And unless someone makes a
raw speaker that does bass in a small enclosure and can handle musical
instrument wattage, preferably RMS NOT PEAK, in your desired diameter, frequency
range, AND impedance, you may not like what you hear.
