Subject:Re: Motion Sound KBR-M (keyboard amps)
I went down a similar path a few months ago. I liked the form factor of
the KBR-M, so I *wanted* to like the amp. I thought it sounded good for
organ, but unacceptable for piano. I wanted to try a Barbetta but
couldn't get close to one without buying it. I ended up trying an EON
15 side by side with an SRM-450 for a week. I liked the sound of the
Mackie a *lot* better, although my predisposition was to like the JBL.
The Mackie is also, IMO, a much easier form factor to work with. Lack
of mixer is occasionally a nuisance, but I routinely plug directly into
the 450(s) when I use a single keyboard.
Given that I couldn't find a single rig that I liked for piano and
organ, the question was whether to have separate ones or not. I opted
for a stereo clone speakeasy and a pair of 450s, and I love it. My
electro leslie sim sounds awesome through this rig...
