Subject:Re: B4 and the Quatro

Hi Mitch,
I haven't read the group for the past few weeks, but I noticed your message today.
I had a Quattro a couple of months ago on a desktop, and I did the same test (turning up
the volume of the keyboard and listening to the difference from the two speakers). In
fact, I even recorded onto my computer to time the exact difference using a sound editing
program. I found my latency to be about 20-30 ms, even though Quattro was set to
something much lower, like your 5 ms thing.

So, no, you're not going crazy, I had the same feelings, and I was right. The point is,
if you feel like there's a significant delay, there probably is. Like Steve said, if it
really was 3 ms, you wouldn't notice a thing. Anyway, I couldn't figure out a way to
solve the problem, I called M-Audio and everything. I returned the card and got the
Auiophile 2496, and it works like a charm.

With the Quattro, my experiences were bad, I blame it on the USB, but many others have
said there are no problems at all with it. It sounds like each computer is a little
different. Perhaps you should try another card like the Echo or something that isn't USB
if there is one for labtops. Well, that was my experience, hope it helps.
