Actually, never tried sampled organs with my roto....I had a clone and then
bought an M3. (Maybe I should try some of my Roland samples..nah!)
Seriously, I *have* run many Rhodes and electric pianos thru the Rotosphere
and it makes them sound much better. A little tube distortion and some slow
chorale and a good velocity switched Rhodes or Wurli sample sounds great.
Work very well with semi-acoustic guitar samples too. A decent organ sample
will sound better..no doubt about it. Will it sound like a B3 / 122. In a
word. no.

Don't quote this as gospel, but I've been told the boxes are identical
except the MKII has the facility for user adjustable ramp speeds and a finer
balance between upper horn and lower rotor. If this is important to you -
buy the new one. But, bear in mind, for 200 bucks, the original might be
fine for what you need it to do. I've never liked the MKI ramp time, but I
can live with it. The only way to answer this for yourself is to audition
the 200 buck MKI version. If you like what you hear......Hell, ya just saved
200 clams! If not, test drive the MKII and play with the tweakables - it
might be what yer looking for.
So much for brief huh?
Let us know how you did
