Subject:MS KBR-3D experiences

I've been lurking on this list for a while now, and I learned a lot about keyboard amplification, which is a subject not covered too much elsewhere! I read the "Barbetta Growl" thread and decided to share my experiences with my MS amp. I've heard Barbettas before, and they really do sound good and LOUD if you want. They're light too...but I just never liked all the controls/inputs on the back. I like to be able to grab and go while I'm playing, if need be. If Barbetta made a version with front-mounted knobs, I would've bought it over the MS with no question, simply because I heard the MS and the sound didn't wow me, but the features sure did. I've been using my kbr-3d exclusively for a few years now, and I bought it with two thoughts in mind: simplifly, and stereo in one cabinet. After a few gigs, I found when I pushed it the amp sounded too flat and "boxey". I went to motion-sound.com and found that my port tubes were too long, so I cut them to spec and it really helped, but it still sounded a bit wimpy for a stage amplifier. I found a deal on a set of Eminence Delta 10" speakers and swapped out the factory Eminence Betas. The improvement is pretty dramatic, I must say. Only drawback is the amp weighs 10 pounds more, bringing it to 80 pounds.

Thanks for a great list and the bandwidth,

Bob G.
