My Classic doesnt have a gain switch anywhere??? I have Volume,
Treble and Bass controls and that's it.? Am i missing something??

I've also found that the output on the CX3 is too weak to really push
the
Speakeasy, especially in pre amp mode (I use a Leslie and i hate the
digital amp simulation in the CX3). I've found that there are 2 ways
to get the proper kind of warmth, either set the internal EQ settings
on the CX3 to max Treble/Mid/Bass all on 10 and the output to 127.
This gives just enough juice in the signal to start to saturate the
12Au7.
The downside is that you've now lost the different EQ settings across
your patches. The other option is to use something to increase the
line level, like a guitar FX, mixer or even another pre amp if you
like. There's no issue with putting a pre amp in front of the
Speakeasy, I actually use my Classic with a Hammond M102 and a
Leslie, even though the Hammond has it's own pre amp of course. With
the Hammond pre amp into the Speakeasy (set at 12' O clock), this
sounds great fed into my old 760, and gives me a sound that i could
not get from plugging the Hammond straight into the Leslie 760 as
intended.
