Second on the 8th Street ... . What they will ship you for $1450 is a Version 1
Electro 73 with the factory-updated version 2 software. I had a brand-new
"demo" version 2 Electro from Guitar Center on hand when I got the upgraded
one and they sound identical, as they should. The only differences are
cosmetic; there's no "Electro 2" sticker, the tiny decal that shows all the
clavinet variations is absent (athough you can still access and play all of
them, it's very cool) and the color of the graphics is orange rather than purple
(neither is a great contrast with the red finish, IMHO).
I actually got mine from Zzounds for $1499 but they matched 8th Street's price
for me. Factory box, etc.
I had paid $1575 plus tax at Guitar Center for the demo, but I had a weird
problem with it resetting itself at a gig (could've been low power as we had the
whole band running off one outlet and it did it when we got really loud) and
when I asked about it, they said I'd have to pay $175 additional to buy a
service policy or I could exchange it for a new one if I wanted to pay the
difference at $1839. I ordered from 8th Sreet, it came the next day, and I took
the Guitar Center one back.
The gig bag was $56 at 8th Street, by the way.
