The sound engine is different, but it is subtle. I've owned a VK-7
for over 5 years, and I've played the VK-8 and I've observed the
following differences:

- More realistic percussion sound and taper - fatter sound lower
down, more woody tone
- Improved key click - does clack with 88 8888 888
- Better EQ - body control much more useful

Obviously there are cosmetic changes and the keyboard is improved.
Shame they didn't reduce the weight though. It is really heavy
considering what is inside. Maybe the wooden end blocks can be
removed. Anyone know if they are structural or not? Can't
remember from last time I looked.

I'm also beginning to really dislike my VK-7 keyboard but maybe it
just needs refelting. Anyone else restored a VK-7 action?

I'm not buying a VK-8 to replace my -7 though. B4+M-Audio
Quattro+cheapo MIDI Hammond pedals+home-made drawbar controller is
almost there for me...Still can't beat a real set of Hammond manuals
and pedals in a real Hammond box though...
