Subject:Leslie contol with Roland Midi Keyboard
Hi,
A little while ago there was a post about controlling B4 Leslie simulation with an EDIROL PCR-30 (or50). Having recently purchased B4 (after a bit of help and kerfuffle from this list) may I suggest a simple modification.
I (re) mapped all of the controls of the EDIROL to B4 but one of the few non-assignable controls is the pitch/bender lever. This is assigned to the "Rotator" by default and seems like it would be quite good as it is a nice lever that sticks up and is easy to grab. A bit like the famous 'half-moon' switches. The problem is, that like a lot of benders, it is spring loaded.
This fix is easy. I simply took the bottom off the keyboard (all of the black headed screws around the edge of the underside of the case - not the screws towards the centre, they hold the actual keyboard to the bottom of the case.) After removing the bottom it is very easy to locate the bender and simply remove the spring that gives it the 'spring-loaded' action. It is very obvious and very easy to remove without any permanent damage or changes to the instrument. Then just pop the bottom back on.
If you make sure that the three wires going to the control are moved very slightly the switch will now have no spring-back action at all and quite nicely stays where it is put. Perfect for a "Rotational speaker" control.
(this of course may void your warranty.... )
Hope this helps !
Best regards,
Claire
